Combining carving and clay canes with texture makes this purse pleasing to the touch. Polymer clay canes are designs which are repeated throughout the entire cane…think those cookies in the freezer at the grocery that you just slice and bake…and each slice is the same. Multiple cane designs are then assembled into a “fabric.” The carved areas evolve as I work, using anything and everything I can find which can be impressed into polymer clay. The purse side using clay canes is gently textured on the edges to contrast with the smoother areas. The interior canes mimic suiting combined into a basketweave pattern.

The technique for making my purses was refined during a class with Kathleen Dustin at Creative Journey Studios. What I learned from this remarkable artist continues to impact my purses. This purse uses a metal frame so that it accommodates larger phones and measures approximately 8” long, 2” deep, 4.75 “ high.

While this purse is sold, commissions are accepted. Please contact me for details.
