Polymer clay was just what Meg was looking for about 15 years ago. Initially she wanted to make buttons, a goal which evolved into her unique birds when she retired from teaching.
For Meg, every time she sits down with clay, it is an opportunity to try something different. Having taken classes with various polymer clay artists, Meg says she never fails to love everything she sees by Kathleen Dustin.
Currently, Meg is obsessed with birds. Having taken a class with Jeffrey Lloyd Dever, Meg wanted to make hollow form vessels. After much experimentation, almost ready to give up, Meg reminded herself to find her particular way to achieve hollow forms. And she did! Now she will be teaching her approach to sculpting birds during a polymer clay retreat. These forms now enable the various styles of bird that are uniquely Meg’s.
Coming up next for Meg will be giraffes using hollow forms and incorporating metal. Meg said she is sparked by what she clarified about herself and her work during the LAG jury workshop.
